Hey, could you please explain a bit the significance of the "Arnold Corns" thing? Was it just a test run for Ziggy?

Arnold Corns (name derived from the song “Arnold Layne”) is an odd thing. It was Bowie’s initial experiment in creating a fake rockstar. It was a band made up of the soon-to-be Spiders and fronted by 18-year-old dress maker Freddie Burretti, who would go on to design many of Bowie’s glam suits. However, Freddie did not actually sing. The idea was for Bowie to do the vocals and have Freddie be the face of the band, without the public’s knowledge. But it never really made it off the ground. Several recordings were made, but Bowie was soon drawn away by the lure of Ziggy. It’s that short attention span again.

I find this photo to be rather disturbing.

I seem to recall that someone was looking for this photo a month or two ago.

I kind of adore this photo. The underexposure makes it sinister, yet somehow unreal. As if the photographer went out to take pictures of trees, then when he developed his pictures—amid all the expected photos—this. Just in one frame, these glam phantoms of the forest.
